I’ve been really busy and haven’t been following politics the last few days, but it’s interesting that Cain pulled ahead. I’ve heard pro’s and con’s. What do you think?

hermannview asked: You said that "Roosevelt’s imperialism wasn’t so different from Wilson’s and FDR’s (both progressive). Maybe another reason to rethink democracy and progressive politics." Well, first America is a republic not a democracy (as many groups and people claim). So if you don't want progressive ideas do you want ones that favor the rich and wealthy while taking away from the average American?

Checking my in-box. I don’t think you got my response. I agree America is a republic (tell that to Progressive politicians). I want to stay true to the Constitution and promote individualism. That would, I would think, favor the rich, poor, and middle class equally.

Laboratory tests have confirmed that Nepalese UN Peacekeepers accidentally caused the death of 5,000 Haitians from cholera.  The Independent quotes an investigation’s conclusion: “The sanitation conditions at the Mirebalais Minustah camp were not sufficient to prevent faecal contamination of the Meye Tributary System of the Artibonite River with human faecal waste”. The Artibonite River provided tens of thousands of Haitians with drinking water.

“It’s just fascinating that we have a black man, who has Muslim ties with his father, even though he’s a Christian, it’s amazing how far our country has come, that that’s the man who took down Osama bin Laden. It makes you feel very patriotic.”

BTW, how’s that war in Libya, Sheryl?

What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side … I believe in God. I believe we’re ALL his children. And I believe HE is the ONE and ONLY judge.

So, um, isn’t Mendenhall being judgmental, here?
